Erase Disk services by sector forensics will completely over write all information on the hard drive. It is recommended to wipe clean the hard drive before it is discarded, sold, or donated as a security measure. Formatting / partitioning hard drives do not erase the information on hard drives. That and ''deleting'' files only removes information about how to locate the file on your drive, but not its contents. The solution for unrecoverable erasure is to ''wipe'' the file or drive. It's a repetitive process of overwriting all 1's, then all 0's over the file contents. Four or five times of that will sufficiently hide any original data.

For a basic drive wiping we recommend using this free, DOS-based utility by Active@ Kill Disk Hard Drive Eraser. This utility bypasses your drive's logical drive structure organization, it does not matter what operating system you're running: you can use the utility in Windows 9x, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Linux, or Unix for PC.
If you want to completely erase data, eliminating any possibility of recovery, consider using this free, DOS-based utility.
To use the program, download one of the following files and save the executable to your floppy disk. If you have a bootable floppy disk, download "killdisk.zip" if you need to create a bootable floppy disk, download "killdiskfloppysetup.zip".
